- modularity - “everything is a plugin”
- full export / import .md
- version history
- local encryption
- E2EE
- WebDAV
- live clones / true transclusion
- backlinks & wikilinks
- tag system
- comments/sub-notes (to everything; e.g. sub-notes to tasks)
- global search
- zoom-in / focus mode
- full UI customization (hide/show) + always keep default simple & clean
- tabs
- multi-panel view
- plugins > bloated default app
- AI - stop obsessing with it + make it fully optional
- graph view
I highlighted the most important features.
Take what’s the best from:
- Notesnook (security & privacy)
- Joplin (simplicity, reliability)
- SiYuan
- Anytype
- Thymer
- Workflowy (editor’s features)
- Obsidian (plugins)
and you rule the market
IMO, you’ve got the biggest potential, because competitors fail at: being overwhelming/not FOSS/lacking simple features/no privacy/stupid pricing models.
Any of these failed = app ruined and the user won’t even bother trying it.
I’m not familiar with GitHub, so I’d appreciate if someone submitted the feature requests there one by one
